As some of you may already know, we bought a house! A “fixer upper” to be exact. This house needs a ton of work done and Tommy has been working his butt off to get it ready for us to live in! I’m so happy to call him my fiance’ because he is such a hard worker. He knows how to do everything and if he doesn’t, he researches it for days. I couldn’t ask for a better man in my life! There were a lot of little hiccups we went through to close on the house. I think the whole process took about 2 1/2 months. It was insane. I was so anxious because I didn’t know when we were moving or if we would even get the house. It was stressful to say the least. Naturally, I started packing right away. I wanted things to be organized so that we could easily find things. I did pretty good but just this last week, we were all of a sudden moving and I didn’t get to help pack the rest of the house. I went to work for the day and Tommy and his family moved everything which is fine, but everything is a mess and I may have shed a few tears when I looked at the pile of moving boxes. When your moving, it’s hard to know where to start unpacking , especially if some things are thrown into random boxes.
I wanted to share some pictures I took before we got the house. Tommy and his dad ended up cleaning this all out in one weekend. ONE WEEKEND! It was insane. I don’t know how they did it. Just look at these pictures and see all of this junk these people had in their house. I don’t understand how anyone can just abandon their things like this. It is so insane to me. It makes me want to go through all my stuff and get rid of things I don’t use anymore.
Look at all this stuff in the garage! Who does this? And who has that much junk. It was literally all junk. Nothing valuable. We were able to keep a few things, but not much.
Here is the bathroom that took me 2 hours to clean. Look at my Instagram and find the picture of my disgusted face!!
Once everything was moved out, we were able to start cleaning and I wish I would have taken pictures but it was just to overwhelming. It took me about 2 hours just to clean one bathroom. It was that filthy. The whole house was absolutely disgusting. Like, these people NEVER cleaned anything. Everything was dirty. I was also freaking out because there was mice droppings throughout the house. I told Tommy if I saw a mouse I wasn’t moving in. He put up a bunch of mouse traps and brought our cat over and we have yet to catch one, so that’s a good sign! I am excited for what’s to come with this house. We have to be smart about it and find the best deals, but also make it look nice so that when we sell it we can make some money. What are some things you look for when you are buying a house? Do you like to see new windows, a nice kitchen, knock down ceilings or good landscaping? It would be nice to get some input on what we should focus on. Also, what should we start with!? We are thinking windows, ceilings, then painting.
Here are some things we were for sure able to keep:
A riding lawn mower
A ton of Tools
Some stuff we are hoping to sell
That’s about it. Out of all that junk in the house, it amazes me that we didn’t find more things to keep. It is a very cute house and I love the layout. I think once it gets all fixed up, I will be in love with it! It’s the perfect size for our little family.
P.S. Just as I am finishing typing this most, we think we hear a mouse running through the cupboards. I’m freaking out. I can’t handle it. Our cat won’t get up from his sleeping spot to check it out and I’m a little annoyed by his lack of mouse hunting skills….
