Our Weekend Gardening And Favorite Gardening Tools
Last weekend was a ton of work. We decided to tackle the yard and it was insane how many weeds were growing! If you didn’t now, we bought a house that was in foreclosure. Read about my first post on it here. It has been a lot of work, but it will be worth it in the end. My parents came over to help us with the yard work and I am so thankful for them. I don’t know what we would do without them! Skylar had fun pulling the little weeds and putting rocks in her little bucket. We picked the perfect day for it because it wasn’t too hot and there was a nice breeze. Have you ever done this much yard work? I wanted to share with you some things you will need for fixing up your yard.
Look at little Sky Sky gardening in her pretty dress. So. Many. Weeds. Now that we have the yard cleaned up, all we need to do is fix the landscaping!

All of our bushes are so over grown. We basically took all of them out to start fresh.
We looked everywhere trying to find Skylar’s little gardening gloves but had no luck. I gave her my biking gloves and they seemed to work just fine! HA!
So we aren’t really sure, but we think this huge overgrown bush was actually from the tree’s roots. Can that even happen? It looks sooo much better and I want to make this a little garden area. Maybe even a fairy garden. That would be so cute!
My dad had way too much fun cutting that thing down…
Here are some things you will need when you’re doing yard work like this. We didn’t have all of these things but it sure would have been nice!
Rake– For raking all of the leaves/ weeds that are in the yard. I would recommend this metal one. We had a plastic one and it didn’t work very well trying to get the leaves out of the rocks.
Shovel– For digging up any large bushes or weeds. I also recommend using a heavy duty metal one for this.
Wheel Barrel– For hauling dirty, rocks, and more. We did not have one of these and we definitely needed it.
Gardening gloves– Some weeds are really prickly so you definitely want some gardening gloves. I would get ones that have a good grip on them too for those weeds that are tough to get out.
Gardening sheers– For cutting any large bushes, trees or weeds.
Chain saw– For trimming the bushes.
Lawn mower– We have a riding lawn mower that was left in the garage when we moved into our new house and it is so nice to have. It gets the job done in half the time!
Grass trimmer– For trimming any grass or weeds you didn’t get while mowing.
Weed Killer– Instead of wasting time picking out all of the little weeds, just spray this stuff on it!
